Artist research

Updated: Jan 17, 2023

This piece of work is by an artist called Jamie Temple, who is a Scottish illustrator based in London. Within his art he primarily works with Lino print, which is what gives his work this textured look. This print is actually part of a series of works called "scary monsters", temple explores the narrative of architecture just being nothing more but a mere building. Void of interiors and human beings, the only thing that seems to live in these houses are the shadows of monsters. The narrative does go well with the art work because when I look at the picture I can see these textured lines on the building that almost look curved. in between these lines I can see the black colour of the building and several plain windows that look vacant. This drawing is also in one point perspective, which it makes it look 3D I think it makes this building look bold and captivating. The building is also shaped into rectangles and they stacked up on each other. I would say have that I have found a connection between some of my work and Temples. Temples work is simplistic in nature and looks quite technical in shapes, I have also taken this approach in one of my drawings of the college in Ilkeston. Temples technique fits well within my theme, as I am also looking at the structure of buildings in ilkeston.
