Dino muradian is a Romanian pyrographic artist who is known for laser burning images onto wood. He has been doing wood burning since 1965 and most of his art works consist of this medium. Here is a picture of Muradians work:
This is one of the pieces of that I like from Muradians pyrographic collection. In this photo i can see that a structure of shapes has been burned into the wood. I'm not particularly sure what these shapes are supposed to replicate but I like the mystery behind them. I love how the dark shades of the shapes add dimension to the image almost making it look 3D. The image itself looks like it was from the past because of the burnt colours giving it a sense of antiquity. With that being said, I believe that is what the medium of pyrography does it makes images look like a blast from the past. This use of medium fits in closely with my theme of structure, as I have also decided to make pyrographic images out of historical buildings and landmarks from Ilkeston. The idea of having images burned into wood suggests that the memory of it is being preserved. I believe this ties in with the meaning of his work the idea of a image's consciousness being burned into wood.
